No magic pill here. But outstanding.

If you want bird songs then the CD delivers. If you want size, food, nest, eggs, comments then the book is what you want. The book comes with no audio. The audio comes with no verbiage except what page it is on in the book. The little booklet that comes with the CD is laid out in the same order as the Book. Buy both and don't be let down as was the poor reviewer.

I think the audio is fantastic if a person wants to put in the effort. I can't stand the included Mnemonics: "assisting or intended to assist memory" Yes I acknowledge that "quack" works for just about everyone. But most of the suggested Mnemonics sound absolutely nothing like the bird song to me. This is not a negative toward the CD, just that a person needs to work at bird song learning and not memorize the suggested Mnemonics - which again is nowhere close in my view.

I think the product is good, and the sound quality is great, but I feel like it could maybe have been organized in a different way to be more useful for me. I have the companion book, and for my purposes the book is perfectly organized - by color and size, so I can look at a bird and flip thru the book and find the bird in question almost immediately.

Having said that, I'm not entirely sure what a better way to organize it would be, and perhaps it's just that I am lucky enough to have so many different species around that I can't just go to a few likely tracks and find the identity.

It is nice that it's so specific to Wisconsin, so you don't have to sift thru the songs of birds that will never be in your area as you're searching to identify one song you are hearing.

It's fun to listen to this in the car. Helps for memorizing the calls. Each one is carefully described, and a sample is taken from the field.

I can finally pick out which birds are singing which songs. We listen to it on the road and my son reads along in the field guide. For years I have wanted to be able to identify which song belongs to which bird, but I had a lot of difficulty with this as I am not a auditory learner. Stan clearly introduces the bird and gives a solid description of the type of song and when/where you are likely to hear it. I feel almost like I've been blessed with learning a foreign language. Absolutely wonderful!

Easy to understand, whether 6, 30, or 60!

Have used this many times and am actually remembering some of the "music" birds make. We've listened to it on the way to Horicorn Marsh to see the birds that migrate through the area and to observe those who make it their home. If you are interested in bird calls, this is a good resource.

We had been hearing a beautiful bird sound and was not able to see it. So happy to have found that we were hearing the White-throated Sparrow! Such a beautiful bird call! Grateful for this product to have discovered our mystery bird!
So helpful to find out which sounds are from which birds. Use it all the time.
