If you have been to Disney a ton of times, This is the book for you. If it's your first time I think you'll enjoy it as well, BUT for you returners get ready to see the park in a hole new light. Whether you're with the kids or just a bunch of fun loving adults you got to try this. The book is set up like a scavenger hunt (for hidden Mickeys) and will give you excellent hints on where to look (with out giving away the exact location) and at the same time show you the best way to see each park. As a 34 year veteran I know my way around and this is just the way I do the parks (for the most part)shortest lines and most attractions covered. The book includes a scoring system witch is great for deciding who is picking up the bill for the next meal. But how ever you do it, it is lots of fun. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Great book

This book is a lot of fun. It's a great introduction to the concept of going to the parks and having a multi-layered experience. If you've been before, and you are going back, you obviously like Disney anyway. But it is fun (particularly for kids) to have an additionaly "mystery" to solve while walking the park and standing in line. The idea is that there are all kinds of "hidden mickeys" throughout the parks. A hidden mickey is basically a simple image of mickey's head: a large circle with two smaller circles connected (his ears). So the book explains all this, and has lists for where to find them. As a bonus, it also provides suggested iteneraries to avoid long lines and find certain hidden mickies. It's a lot of fun.

The down side to the book, from my perspective, is that it is difficult to find any one thing. The authors break information up by the purpose they assume a given reader might have, but if your need doesn't match one of those, you find yourself looking in many different places in the book for info. Another problem, and maybe its a "user error," but we couldn't find many of the hidden mickey's based on the descriptions in the book. They just didn't seem specific enough. Finally, many of the hidden mickey's, to me were just circles - a real stretch.

So I don't see this book as a definitive list of hidden mickies. I found this book to be more of a popularizer of a cool idea, with some very good ideas (e.g., the itineraries) added as a bonus. It's worth your dollars, but it won't be the best book on the subject written, I suspect.

This is a great book to take to WDW, but if you're reading it at home, it's not of much value. The author gives hints of where to find the hidden Mickeys, like a treasure hunt. But like a treasure hunt, you have to be there to find (or appreciate) it. If you're in WDW, 5 Stars; if not, 3.

Some of my most enjoyable moments at Walt Disney World took place after my husband and I purchased Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickey's 2nd Edition! We began searching based on our location or ride line queue then that search continued at our resort and so on. This book gives you hints and tips on locating these Hidden Mickeys that have become pretty famous among visitors and fans, and when you really can't find Mickey, the book will list the exact location! After reading this book, I've become a fanatic and even find Hidden Mickey's in places there really aren't any - like my lawn where three pebbles fit the bill for a HM perfectly. This is a great way to entertain yourself or you children in lines at the parks or in shops and restaurants too!

Just when you thought you've seen and done everything there is to do in WDW, along comes Hidden Mickeys! The cleverly-disguised tributes to our favorite mouse can be found all throughout the WDW Resort, and Steve Barrett does an amazing job in not only helping you find them, but creating a fun scavenger-hunt type book to add an extra dimension to your visit! (Oh, and don't worry, he has hints if you get stuck, and detailed descriptions of the locations if you still can't find them!) No more "down time" walking through the parks or standing in line - once you start looking for Hidden Mickeys, you'll be hooked! The book is a perfect, pocket-size companion that I have taken to the parks on my visits.

The Second Edition has some of the best new Hidden Mickeys that Imagineers have planted, and is not only a great companion while at the parks, but a fun read even at home! Steve's initeraries really help pass the time, and next thing you know, you'll be looking for Hidden Mickeys everywhere! Fun for Disney fans of all ages, and a great activity for kids, too!

My highest recommendation!!!

On our last trip to Disney World we could not help but notice all of the extra activity that was going on outside, in and around most of the attractions. Groups of kids and adults alike were feverously looking at murals, sidewalks, and structures while gripping a copy of "Hidden Mickeys." It is amazing how this book has added another dimension of fun to Disney World.
We were fortunate to later meet up with Steve and had the opportunity to go "hunting" with the pro. This guy knows his stuff and spends hours upon hours each week finding and verifying new locations where Mickey might be hiding.
I highly recommend this book to any and all Disney World guests. It is amazing how many special details were secretly planted by Disney for the amusement of their guests. (Chris Carlson, author- "Disney on a Dime")
