Black Wizards, by Douglas Niles, is the second book in the Moonshae trilogy. The god Bhaal wants revenge on Tristan Kendrick and his allies for killing Kazgoroth. He is gradually destroying the power of the Earthmother. The druids of Alaron have been murdered by Hobarth, a cleric of Bhaal. Reginald Carrathal, High King of the Ffolk, who rules from Caer Callidyrr, also on Alaron, has fallen under the enchantment of a cabal of seven evil wizards led by Cyndre.

The Moonshae trilogy was the first series of books set in the Forgotten Realms. The trilogy was written by Douglas Niles. Darkwalker on Moonshae (May 1987). Black Wizards (April 1988). Darkwell (February 1989). The series is followed by the Druidhome trilogy. Douglas Niles also wrote a short story about the early days of the Moonshae Isles called The First Moonwell. It is included in Realms of Magic anthology.

Moonshae What bas gone King Kendrick of Corwell was one of the four kings of the Ffolk who dwelled upon the Moonshae Islands

Moonshae What bas gone King Kendrick of Corwell was one of the four kings of the Ffolk who dwelled upon the Moonshae Islands. Corwell, along with the Kingdoms of Moray and Snowdown, owed fealty to Callidyrr, for Callidyrr was home to the king of Cal-lidyrr, who was the titular High King of all the Ffolk. This legendary weapon, lost for centuries, allowed him to slay the Beast and served as a symbol of the lost unity of his people. At the same time, Tristan and Robyn found their relationship changing, growing as a long-dormant love for each other awakened inside them.

gotta love FR Books

A fun read. A lot of characters, so sometimes it got a little confusing, but the storylines kept moving forward, keeping the story interesting. And it featured several different traditional monsters, so that was fun, too.
  • Nalmezar
good read

I liked the trilogy, I was happy to see that things didn't always turn out as I expected. Nothing worse than always knowing what is going to happen.

Good plot builder to the first book and lends straight to the third. Does great job building characters for later series
Just started reading this one! Hope it's as good as the first!
