A fun and informative read, particularly for those who aren't as familiar with the Golden Age of Piracy as others. The book is nicely illustrated and comes with a beautiful fold-out map of the Caribbean circa 1660. The book covers a wide range of pirate topics (and thus none in particularly great depth) designed to make the casual reader familiar with the material, and perhaps stimulate the more curious to seek greater detail elsewhere. Note to pirate scholars - this book is not for you. The book would appeal to the young adult (not children) category of reader best.

Who knew the owner of a NBA team loves pirates? I've been to his pirate museum in St Augustine FL, which at first appears tuned to kids but is an actual museum with REAL pirate artifacts. Great fun! This book is the same style. Seems like its more for kids, but is actually fascinating to read with lots of factual research. I flew through this book in two sittings because it was so interesting, and I don't read books that much.

Excellent illustrations! However, the basic narrative is fairly mundane. The book has no "romance" or interesting history. The book spends precious pages on such dull topics as "How to build a lean-to"

I got exactly what I was expecting. Its a great book for younger kids and younger readers but is surprisingly informative for adults as well, particularly the grog and classic punch recipes.

Loved this book. Full of real history about pirates with funny facts thrown in, too. Great for adults but also children. I'd probably suggest this for an advanced reader in middle school or anyone in high school.

Very informative. Any book that has maps in it is fun enough for me.

Pretty book, but I question much of the factual accuracy
This is an awesome little book full of tons of useful information. This book is written like a daily log with all of the activities that were undertaken through the day. Very cool!
