In general I like pictures. In this book they got in the way. Some of the info here is stuff you don't get from other books but I'd worry people will miss it because the layout is so visually distracting you get involved in the pictures and forget about the text. In particular some of the injury information is very helpful - but again the pictures take over completely.

For someone who wants to be guided gently into the world of running and is not ready to read more science this may be a good option. The info is solid, it is complete, and it will guide you well. I preferred a few others to this one but I still pick this up occasionally to glance through.

I love this book so far! I am just starting to run. I have two 5ks I just signed up for and I wanted to learn to run in a safe way. This book has a great running log in the back of it to help you get started. It also has a lot of motivational words in it. Overall if you are starting to run and looking for a book I would say buy this one.

Most of the information in this book can be found for free on websites online, such as active.com. I didn't receive much further insight, but it might be good for someone sedentary who is new to exercise and needs additional help & motivation to continue working out.

Great book. This was so helpful to me as a beginning runner. I recently completed my first 5k and ran the entire way! I could not have done it without some of the advice in this book.

As a 50+ female who has never run in my entire life, I needed help! This book is wonderful. It takes me by the hand and walks me through step by step what to do. I'm still learning and this book is perfect!

I bought this as a reference point as I began to immerse myself in distance running training. This was a very informative stepping stone that allowed me to understand some of the basics of the sport. My only complaint regarding the kindle version is the large pictures and print scattered throughout the book. While I am sure that this looks great in the print version, it didn't translate well to the kindle version.

So far I like content of the book I just don't like the format of the Kindle version.

I didn't care for the sections of the book that were written over pictures. You couldn't enlarge the font of those sections and it was difficult to read some of those in such tiny fonts with such fanciful backgrounds. The sections of the book that were in standard text, the font appeared degraded and or broken.
