Vital Points for Oriental Therapy by Katsusuke Serizawa. This book is an attempt to introduce a still more basic part of oriental medicine by explaining the system of tsubo, or vital points, on which much oriental therapy rests. In the Orient, mankind is considered an integral part of nature. Just as the seasons change and the weather alters, so the state of health of man fluctuates from good to bad. The idea of oneness with nature and the belief in the inevitability of change are two of the foundations of oriental medicine.

I foolishly lent this book years ago and never saw it again. Happily, this copy in great condition is back in my library. It is a guide map to the points on the body used in some forms of Asian healing, like accupuncture, accupressure and other therapies grouped in general by ailment. The maps are exceptional and there are instructions on how to measure an individual to find the points if the ouch doesn't find it for you. It is a great introductory learning system to another method of learning what the body is saying. It points to systems of disorder which widens the horizons for a holistic approach to augment other methods.

I bought this book to replace the version I had before a fire ruined it. I was mildly disappointed with the frayed book cover, but for the price it was worth it to have this classic reference book back on my bookshelf.
