Chantelle Shaw enjoyed a happy childhood making up stories in her head. Always an avid reader, Chantelle discovered Mills & Boon as a teenager and during the times when her children refused to sleep, she would pace the floor with a baby in one hand and a book in the other! Twenty years later she decided to write one of her own. Writing takes up most of Chantelle’s spare time, but she also enjoys gardening and walking.

What would you do if you find out your husband does not love you? And possibly he was bribed to marry you? Well in true HP fashion Emily finds herself fighting back. Luc has ignored her too long. And when he misses her doctor apt to be with his sister-in-law/PA, Emly has had enough and leaves. Now a year later he catches up with her and his son. He takes them back to his castle to live. Will there be a HEA ending? Of course but the journey is without the twists of the OW, and secrets of the past come rushing forward.

in spite of the bad reviews i read, this story is actually pretty good and made me cry. The sexes were good and bold, of course. The sorrow of the heroine is very touching and well written, it made me cry

Luc is the dumbest HP alpha husband ever and makes this a childishly written story. He is supposedly a brilliant business man, ruthless and exceptional with people but he seriously seems to miss the blatant manipulations of his 'sister-in-law/PA, Robyn. He knows that wife Emily has always believed he is having an affair with Robyn and now that he has found and brought home Emily, after a year's separation with their new baby son he has never seen, what happens? With marriage already tense and fragile, stupid PA Robyn moves into chateau and organises a dinner party on the first night home! And Luc, although annoyed, sides with PA's insensitive timing rather than wife and son's exhaustion.
I did enjoy Emily's ability to articulate her unhappiness and loneliness in the marriage. I also enjoyed the wake-up calls to Luc as he starts to slowly realise his faults in the marriage, and no wonder his wife couldn't stand their loveless marriage. The end was VERY rushed and exposure of Robyns heartless lies was barely dealt with. After being ruthless hateful to wife all through the story, surely the heartless, marriage destroying PA could have got the same treatment when caught out in her horrible lies. A real let-down from Chantelle Shaw.

So Luc and Emily have been married for about a year. She gets a bun in the oven and it appears that Luc has moved on....w/ Robyn. It really didn't look good for Luc. He lied about a later flight and Emily saw him w/ Robyn. What doesn't make sense is that Robyn is hounded by the press and yet no mention of them at the airport or the possibility that Emily could've discovered Luc's lie through the tabloids. Emily does a runner and the mega bucks shrewd businessman can NOT find her for well over a year! But it seems to be a walk in the park to locate a horse later, perhaps he didn't really expend much in the way of locating her though.

He longed to see his child and was extremely worried/scared for Emily (a past situation brings about this fear) - however you will note that he didn't long that much as he missed an ultrasound for Robyn AND he apparently lacked the funds and know how to hire a decent PI to track down his estranged wife. Yet he finally does because he "wined and dined" her attorney's employee to get the info. Luc stands by his SIL/PA and claims that Emily's jealousies and childishness has no basis and he even gets a little violent. Okay what would you call it when he squeezes her fingers to where she feels he may break them?

Luc says mean things to her - that's the norm in these angst ridden books, right; he threatens to leave her while he takes the child; and claims that she abandoned the baby. However, big bad Luc claims he will not abandon the baby and will be w/ him - I guess work and hiring a nanny doesn't count (remember the whole Emily abandoned crud well how does this seem okay for Luc now?) At one point Luc claims he doesn't forgive easily, but I felt that he forgave Robyn pretty darn quickly.

Really felt like Luc placed Robyn ahead of Emily. He thinks he has a good excuse but something just didn't gel for me. He was emotionally cheating w/ Robyn and didn't truly seem to be a man scared for Emily (He didn't hunt her down. He enjoys Christmas time w/ friends instead of searching for her!) I really loved (sarcasm) the following line: Emily says - Give me one reason I should believe anything you say. Luc replies: Because you are my wife. Note this doesn't work for Emily "the I am your wife you must believe me" stuff.

IDK if he was so concerned about losing Emily then his putting Robyn first didn't make a lot of sense - perhaps he was concerned about losing Robyn as well. Robyn lied but he she feels awful about it we just don't know what happens to her after her confession though. Considering he doesn't forgive easily I hope she is kicked out, but I just think he continues to keep her around.
