The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Religious organisation. When difficulties happen in our lives, the Savior’s precious birth, life, Atonement in the Garden of Gethsemane, suffering on the cross, burial in Joseph’s tomb, and glorious Resurrection become a renewed reality for us. Only as we accept the Savior's Atonement in our lives and strive to live the gospel can we meet the challenges of life and find peace, joy, and happiness.

This book is fantastic for people who are not familiar with the doctrine and teachings of the Church and it will help them understand and accept the Restored Gospel. Jan U. Pinborough and M. Having lived quite a few years now, I have concluded that since we don’t always desire that which is good, having all our desires granted to us would not bring us happiness (see Alma 41:3–7). In fact, instant and unrestrained gratification of all our desires would be the shortest and most direct route to unhappiness. The many hours I have spent listening to the tribulations of men and women have persuaded me that both happiness and unhappiness are much of our own making.

This has become one of my favorite books, and I have re-read it multiple times. Ballard does an expert job of spelling out the basics of LDS theology in simple terms and with everyday examples. The beauty of this book is its ability to appeal to such a wide-ranging audience; from someone who knows little or nothing of the LDS church and beliefs to the life-long member with deep knowledge of doctrine.

For those who are being introduced to the LDS church for the first time, this is a wonderful introduction and a way to familiarize yourself with not only what the beliefs are, but the "why" behind it all.

For longtime members of the LDS church who find so much of the gospel wonderful and inspiring, it can be difficult to know where to start or what to focus on when curious acquaintances inquire about beliefs. The last thing anyone wants is to overwhelm the curious mind who speaks up with a simple question with an extended discourse. This book does a wonderful job of concisely linking many of the practices and gospel beliefs behind them.

For anyone between this is a great book that will explain, uplift, and inspire. I have loved reading this book every time I have read it. I have loved giving it as a gift to friends who are interested in knowing more, but maybe aren't open to meeting with missionaries just yet. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

My objective in reading this was found at the end of the title: "Happiness". As I read this book, I have sought straight forward principles of happiness. I have come to this conclusion:

Happiness can be found in living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Though I wish this weren't so vague, I am realizing that Happiness is a quest of obedience and gradual personal change and continual improvement. We turn to the Lord, he shapes us, we move forward. Then we turn to Him again. It is the one true and perfect process of success in life: Faith, Repentance, Covenant making and keeping, and doing it all again until we have become refined and perfected through Him that we may comfortably stand before Him.

This book enables those who are unfamiliar with the LDS faith to gain a better understanding of it, as well as an appreciation for it. It is written by an LDS apostle, and obviously reflects his own beliefs. He does not attempt to be unbiased, nor should he. Many people feel that an explanation of an organization by a dedicated participant in that organization cannot be "fair and balanced." However, the same could be said for an explanation of an organization by a dedicated skeptic. Read this book for a better understanding of the LDS people and their faith.

I love this book, It was given to me after a late miscarriage, and it brought me a lot of peace and comfort.
I bought it for my aunt who just lost her husband. It isn't just for grief though. It is a great book of hope
and encouragement.
