He reads a little, but for the most part he just enjoys following along in church and looking at the pictures for now. Jesus also had strong views about the way we include our little ones.

As a child, my biblical training consisted of mealtime grace and bedtime prayers. It wasn’t until church youth group that I discovered a wealth of inspiration and encouragement awaited me within the pages of God’s Word. I knew that when I had my own children, I wanted to do things differently. Jesus also had strong views about the way we include our little ones. In Matthew 19:14 we read, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. Starting with a toddler Bible, I worked my way up to children’s Bibles that I found at my local Christian bookstore, where I also obtained pertinent audio and video supplies.

The International Children's Bible was translated specifically for children. The goal is to help children accomplish reading an entire book in one year. Is one translation of the Bible the 'best' version to give to children? There is no such thing as a perfect translation of the Bible. The Bible's translation is based off the New Century Version, but re-worded for children. It reads very much like a story. This book is not a complete chronological Bible. It is an option for parents that do not want their child reading a standard translation. In every translation of the Bible, even the contributing scholars will contest the translation of certain words.

Adventures in Odyssey,’ a faith-based audio drama with now 850 episodes, has influenced millions in America’s heartland, including Mike Pence and family. Attempting to illuminate current issues using the Bible as a guide means even Christian actors will question some scripts. A recent series of Odyssey episodes featured a storyline where a group comes into the small town with an agenda. Focus on the Family caught the podcasting trend early, with an entry in the format premiering in 2006.

Our children are long gone but when we came across this Focus on the Family Adventures in Odyssey children's bible while staying at a friend's place,we knew it would be a great addition to our library. It is perfect for our grandchildren and it always sparks comments from our young adult friends when we bring our colourful Bible out at church. We tried to purchase the book at our local bible book store but it was not available without a special order and big bucks. Amazon.com had what we wanted with a delivered price of about $20. Very happy.

I bought the bible about two years ago for my oldest son eighth birthday and he really loves it. His sister (then 6) also loved to read it with her brothers help, especially because of the cartoons which illustrate biblical values.
The Odyssey Bible is a proper bible but with a vocabulary that matches smaller children. Instead of giving our children bible stories they are now getting the real thing at their own level.
The only downside to it is that the cover is cardboard only which looked very used after a few months. A good sign that the children are actually reading it and for that it might be a good idea to bring out a version that has a more resistent cover.
Otherwise, this is an excellent book and I can recommend it with my whole heart. The children are still reading it and because it appeals to children so much it is now the recommended bible for the Sunday School in our church.
My wife also likes to point out that delicate issues are translated very sensitively so that it is not necessary to skip certain passages (Even though the Odyssey Bible does not compromise in truth, these passages are delivered in such a way that the children are not put off but still receive a complete word).
I always buy this Bible whenever I see it no matter what. I give it away to people that are just starting to read so they don't have trouble understanding .
