I have read the first seven of the Seventh Carrier series and as an alternate history story line it was interesting. Peter developed and interesting story, characters that are truly left field, but filled the book with action. It was a good light read, especially for the traveler like myself

Book in the Seventh Carrier Series). This book is the first in a very interesting twist on both history and a speculative view on what could have happened. A second strike on Pearl Harbor forty years after the first one by a group of determined Japanese holdouts from the Second World War. Altogether an interesting look at the mindset of the Japanese prior to and during the war.

Regarding the series formatted for Kindle; the Second Voyage of the Seventh Carrier is book 2 but it's not available in Kindle format on Amazon. They incorrectly list book 3, Return of The Seventh Carrier as book 2 but it is actually book 3 in the series. As soon as you start reading you realize someone messed up here. Make no mistake, this is obviously not on the author, Mr. Albano who passed away in 2006. (See details below my review)
Mr. Albano wrote a nice series here back in the early 80's and thankfully put into Ebook form but it needs to be available in order... He came before the likes of Turttledove etc before alt. history became so popular and way before Ebooks. You can find the paperbacks are still around. the story itself is quite farfetched but isn't a Russian cruiser going back and forth through time (Kirov series, John Schettler, 4 stars) without breaking down or blowing itself up a bit unbelievable too? Anyway, the story will keep you reading even if the dialogue does get a little rudimentary. Please publish the Kindle version of book 2!!! And the rest of this series! (See series list below, from [...]

PS: Yes, you have to suspend a bit of reality here, just like any science fiction/ alternative history work, right....?

I enjoyed the series when it was first published. Now that it is starting to be published on Kindle I'm re-reading it. Despite being dated, it's stll an enjoyable read.

When one is in the military one must follow orders. Even if the orders came 40 years previously; if no subsequent orders the old ones must be followed. The Japanese carrier has orders to follow. The author has fairly accurately incorporated Japanese cultural tenets into this story in regard to the Bushido code. This code is very important to the Japanese in their history.

It is important to be able to make leaps of faith with this book. The premise is intriguing. If you can avoid falling into the trap of looking for everything that might be wrong then the story is interesting and enjoyable. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

A reminder of yesteryear! I just finished this book and first read it when it was first published. Just finished it on this day the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.
  • Exellent
This is one of those "what if" novels that puts a unique twist on history. A pretty good story line and worth the time reading.

not as good as i expected
Exciting book. Took me 3 days to read it and 4 days to read the 2nd book. Loved both. Starting the 3rd.
