Legends of the Mat book. The biographies of 34 of the greatest amateur wrestlers in American history, including legendary champions Dan Hodge, Dan Gable, Rulon Gardner, Cael Sanderson, John Smith, Tom Brands, Bruce Baumgartner, Doug Blubaugh, Ed & Lou Banach, Steve Frasier, Ben & John Peterson and many more.

Mike Chapman is generally considered one of the nation's top wrestling historians and writers. For 45 years my husband has LOVED wrestling and knows about many of the great legends highlighted in the book. He has been named National Wreslting Writer of the Year five times and is the founder of the International Wrestling Institute & Museum. He has authored 21 books and has appeared on over 200 radio talk shows. He constantly stops me in his reading to tell me about the fun and interesting lives he is learning about of those who have dedicated themselves to the most mentally, phyically and emotionally demanding sport in the world.

Michael Donald "Mike" Chapman OAM (born 13 April 1947) is an Australian record producer and songwriter who was a major force in the British pop music industry in the 1970s. He created a string of hit singles for artists including The Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Smokie, Mud and Racey with business partner Nicky Chinn, creating a sound that became identified with the "Chinnichap" brand. He later produced breakthrough albums for Blondie and The Knack

Below is an extract from ‘Mad Mike’ Hoare: The Legend, a biography by Chris Hoare, published by Partners in Publishing. About 250 men from 5 Commando struck out from Bunia on 15 March 1965. Their twin targets were the important town of Aru and the nearby Esebi mission which was now a rebel training centre. Mike was certainly a master in the art of the ‘calm presence’ and always used it to great effect, whether it was in patching up one of his children who had a bloody foot, or, as we have seen, in keeping rescued hostages calm while at the same time getting them out pronto. Further on, beyond Bondo, Mike himself took the wheel of a ferry for a hazardous river crossing.

Colonel Mike Hoare led 300 ‘Wild Geese’ across the Congo to crush a communist rebellion, rescue 2000 nuns .

Colonel Mike Hoare led 300 ‘Wild Geese’ across the Congo to crush a communist rebellion, rescue 2000 nuns and priests from barbarity, beat Che Guevar. nd become a legend. Of Irish blood, Mike was schooled in England and, during World War 2, was the ‘best bloody soldier in the British Army’. He demobbed as major, qua.

Funny, I wasn't aware of Mike Chapman's 80's career at all. I know most of those great songs but never realised they were penned . I know most of those great songs but never realised they were penned and/or produced by him. "Love Is A Battlefield"?! . With Chapman songs, there are often multiple artists doing the same song, so I could really go for several more volumes - plus, US mixclouders have a different set of rules preventing us from including too many songs from the same artist and/or album and that can be very tricky and limiting when making a mix like this one. I used the US LP version of Exile's "Kiss You All Over", by the way, and yeah, Chapman produced a lot of Exile's mid 70's output.

Many great photos.

For 45 years my husband has LOVED wrestling and knows about many of the great legends highlighted in the book. He constantly stops me in his reading to tell me about the fun and interesting lives he is learning about of those who have dedicated themselves to the most mentally, phyically and emotionally demanding sport in the world. He can hardly put the book down and highly recommends it. It represents the ups and downs of life: when you get knocked down, you have to get up since there is always another way out of your situation. The photos make it easy to put a face with the great name. As a former wrestling Coach, he thinks this book is a must have.

This book is great! It is like visiting the Wrestling Hall of Fame as you read. I learned so much about the history of our sport in the USA by reading the stories on these great athletes. I would recommend this book to any true wrestling enthusiast.
