Alberton is a historic homestead in Auckland, New Zealand, built in 1863 ust (English) card as there’s a reciprocal agreement between NT and Heritage NZ. I met and had a long conversation with volunteer Bet who gave me a lovely introduction to the house. Randall, the ‘boss’ was also delightful.
Around this time people started to realize what a beautiful area this was and tourism became one of the region’s main industries. By the 1970s, logging was on the decline and tourism was the main source of income for the majority of locals. The railway once used for transporting logs quickly became a tourist attraction in itself and is still the most popular one to this day.
Alberton is a city situated on the southern part of the Eastrand, of the Gauteng Province in South Africa. It was incorporated into the Ekurhuleni metropolitan municipality in the year 2000 and celebrated its centenary year in 2005. According to the 2011 census conducted by Statistics South Africa, it has a population of 121,536; but this figure excludes the black township of Thokoza, which has a population of 105,827.
