Great book for my bird book collection in Puerto Rico. This one is out of print years ago. A very rare book. I used this field guide while on a Sierra Club Service Trip to the US Virgin Islands and specifically the US Virgin Islands National Park on St. John

Great book for my bird book collection in Puerto Rico. John. It contains very accurate and helpful descriptions and information on sighting and identifying birds in this region. The color plates were especially good. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Puerto Rico and/or the USVI whether or not they are a committed birder.

For a week-long trip to Puerto Rico, this field guide mostly satisfied my bird identification needs, but if I lived in this area of the world, I'd . This guide does just that as it applies specifically to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

For a week-long trip to Puerto Rico, this field guide mostly satisfied my bird identification needs, but if I lived in this area of the world, I'd definitely want something more substantial. While the Puerto Rican endemic species (14 in all), are highlighted on the species pages where they appear, it would be nice if there was a separate checklist of all of them somewhere in the book for quick reference. I found myself wanting that at various times. Puerto Rican endemics are identified either with a full page color plate or with a blue background on plates with other birds.

Paper bound book has edge wear and little back cover sticker. Aside from being a fine field guide, the book contains useful summaries of the biogeography of the region and the ecology of avian populations. The paper bound book has a tight spine and unmarked pages, (B22119). Продавец:member884574 (6140)100,0% положительных отзывовСвязаться с продавцом. The Puerto Rican lizard cuckoo (Coccyzus vieilloti) is a cuckoo endemic to the island of Puerto Rico, and is one of 4 species of lizard-cuckoos which occur only on Caribbean islands. These were formerly placed in the genus Saurothera (Greek for "lizard-eater") of the family Cuculidae, but are now lumped with Coccyzus (AOU 2006). The binomial name of the Puerto Rican lizard cuckoo species commemorates French ornithologist Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot.
