Series: The Prindle, Weber & Schmidt series in mathematics. The author, Charels G. Cullen, does cover many of the topics in a typical Differential Equations course, but the book is completly unorganized

Series: The Prindle, Weber & Schmidt series in mathematics. Hardcover: 480 pages. Cullen, does cover many of the topics in a typical Differential Equations course, but the book is completly unorganized. He provides problems at the begining of the first few chapters that one should not be expected to know how to do until the book is finished. Without an instructor and supplemental material, some of the topics are nearly impossible.

This isn't a very good textbook for partial differential equations. I prefer Asmar's Partial Differential Equations Textbook from Dover, it's cheap and a far superior text.

The emphasis in this book is placed on techniques for solving partial differential equations found in physics and engineering but discussions on existence and uniqueness of solutions are included. Several different methods of solution are presented, with the primary emphasis on the classical method of separation of variables.
