This book provides a generous selection of work both new and old, tracing the development of her poetics over the last three decades. They lead us toward "the infinity of a door only slightly ajar" and have established Fraser as one of America's preeminent experimental writers.

Sir Frederic Truby King CMG (1 April 1858 – 10 February 1938), generally known as Truby King, was a New Zealand health reformer and Director of Child Welfare. He is best known as the founder of the Plunket Society. It is the establishment of the Plunket Society on 14 May 1907 for which Truby King is best known. Set up to apply scientific principles to nutrition of babies, and strongly rooted in eugenics and patriotism, its 1917 "Save the Babies" Week had the slogan "The Race marches forward on the feet of Little Children".

Edward Mendelson is the literary executor of the Estate of . Auden and the Lionel Trilling Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University. His books include Early Auden, Later Auden and The Things That Matter. Auden's Prose (Volume III, 1949-1955) was published by Faber in 2008.

Outside of these examples, Truby flounders at times in his explanations. However, Truby may have attempted too much in one space. I was made aware of "The Anatomy of Story" in a writing book by . Weiland. These are complex ideas and, for brevity's sake, it's important to cut out the chafe. She is by far the vaguer teacher and I appreciate the clarity Truby brings to certain storytelling ideas, despite my other misgivings. I wanted to say more but I've got a headache.
