Evanne Jordan has created a book that combines learning how to count with a beautiful story about kindness. Her writing is whimsical and captivating. My four year old son is enthralled by the story and asks for it often. A previous reviewer wrote that the strength of the book is in the illustrations. The illustrations are nice, but the story itself is what pulls us in. My son likes to talk about the story and ask questions. Evanne Jordan understands how to reach children about important matters in a playful way.

It is a whimsical bedtime story - captures counting as well as respect for nature. The rhymes are fun and illustrations strokes of watercolor. Reading Firefly Night transported me to my backyard in Maryland where we captured "lightning bugs" to glow in the dark night. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and the chance to share with my daughter.

The book is great for my grandchildren, easy to read, gives them counting skills and in general a very enjoyable children's book. I do know the author personally and she is a very concerned educator that wanted to produce a quality book and in my opinion has accomplished that in her book, Firefly Night.

How many of us want to hold on to someone or something when it may not be the best solution for all concerned.
Firefly Nights is a wonderful introduction to this idea; not only for pre-schoolers but for all ages.
With it's charming illustrations and lulling prose, this lovely book can be used in the classroom, the home as well as in therapy.

I absolutely love this book!!! The illustration is so amazing and perfectly created to make this story enjoyable for all ages. The children in my classroom (3-4yrs) were so engaged with the colors and the many different characteristic of fireflies. The story is written perfectly and the message within this book kept the children's interested until the very end. I would highly recommend this book for children of all ages.

This is a beautifully illustrated book with a benevolent message for young children. I have experienced with my own children and grandchildren that they want to keep the live treasures they find in nature and take them home, but the kindest and most compassionate gift is to leave them in their natural surroundings.

What a wonderful book, I will share it with joy. I am so pround to know the author and can't wait for the next book.
We just got this book and both my two year old and four year old love it. The drawings are very cute and both my kids like to anticipate the next rhyming line in the story. I like the fact that it gives a message of realizing the right thing to do with the fireflies and the end page makes them want to read it again and again.
