I was really doing it: I was leaving my husband. Stood there, in this moment that felt too heavy and too long, torn between letting my baby daughter finish her morning nap and waking her up and leaving. I decided I should wake her or we might miss our plane. And, truthfully, I was afraid of another fight with Bobby

The story kept me reading and interested with all of its twists and surprises. It was definately a page turner. Enjoyable read with an unexpected twist at the end. Did'nt see that coming. by Marie S on April 20, 2013. I was somewhat disappointed with the ending. It left me feeling like there should be more, a more satisfying conclusion, although it did have a shock value. Maybe an epilog. how more.

This book is in the top 10 list of worse books I've ever read. When Annie was first arrested, I thought it might actually be an interesting story, but it went downhill afterwards. You will know from the beginning who the 'bad guy' is, then when you get the full picture at the very end of the book, you will know a little bit more of the why. The ending is horrible. Simply horrible. Had it ended with the arrest in Italy, with more focus on that, it would have been a huge improvement. And was it really necessary to tell us EVERY TIME Lexy was breastfed? How about "After I fed the baby .... ". I'm done with this author.

There was WAY too much talk about breast feeding in this book. I don't know what the author's problem is but a reader of mystery books doesn't need detailed descriptions of each time someone breast feeds. It didn't help the plot. I read the whole book because I thought she had some interesting twists and the book had potential. The ending was ridiculous and the relationship between the twins that led up to "the situation" wasn't explained enough. For the heroine not to know her identical twin better than that is kind of a stretch.

Used too much description to make the book longer. Who needs to know about the kitchen appliances, the color of the bedrooms, etc

Well, I found myself screaming at the main character to THINK! And to be believable... Which, unfortunately, the whole circumstances of what she didn't do to help herself and to ask the right questions.. drove me crazy... Throughout the whole of the book...I wouldn't want to read another one because in so many instances, the logic was missing. And we knew, already, from the very very beginning what the outcome was going to be.. And who was guilty...

This book started out slow, but I am glad I kept reading. It grabs you by the throat and won't let go. The ending was shocking to say the least...

An engrossing mystery, beautifully written, with well-observed descriptive passages and well-rounded and believable characters. The author crafts stories that keep your attention from start to finish and combine this with explorations of human relationships and some beautifully written descriptions of tender moments between Annie and her baby. I love Katia Lief novels for their combination of suspense and human emotion.
I liked the storyline. I like the way the authoress writes her crisp dialogue. Interesting read, kept me up half of the night!
The only thing I didn't like was the remark made about an indian call center person about her entire extended family living off 'eight thousand dollars' for a whole year. That was really absurd and uncalled for.
