My first two novels, Belize and Panama, are historical-based, action-adventure stories set in the Tropics. My third novel, Stroke, is set on the Texas Gulf Coast between Houston and Galveston, and it presents a young woman’s odyssey through the infamous world of professional pool. My fourth novel, French Quarter Danny, depicts a young man coming of age in New Orleans' notorious Vieux Carré.

The author is a bit of an awkward story teller - not doing a good job marking transition of time and place within a chapter - but his characters are well drawn and I learned a lot about Belize reading his book...

I normally don't buy self-published but this was excellent. Learning about Belize while traveling there, this story gave the history context for me. I learn best through narrative and really liked the characters here. Reading creole phrases and Belizean sayings was wonderful. Though this is fiction, it represented the complex history well, and the tensions and beauty of the diverse culture.

Thanks to Amazon and Kindle, I was able to find this book. I have never been to Belize, however, my mother was born there in 1923 and lived there until she and her siblings were sent to the states when they were adolescents. It was British Honduras at the time and she lived in the city of Belize. I recall some of my mother's stories about her life there. This book brought a picture of what Belize was like during the time that she lived there and after she left. One of these days, I hope to visit Belize so I can see where she grew up, on Regent Street, and I would like to see the hospital that is named after my great grandfather who was a well known doctor in British Honduras.

Special thanks go to the author, Carlos Ledson Miller, for writing this wonderful book. I read it yesterday (could not put it down). Not only was the story line interesting, but the book was very descriptive so that I could 'see' the story on each page.

I read this book while in Belize. I enjoyed the storyline and especially enjoyed the history of Belize that was mixed in. The book might be appreciated by anyone, but I think it is particularly enjoyable for those who have any interest in Belize.

I lived in Belize for a year in the 70s.Carlos Miller has not only caught the voices and rhythms and nuances of diverse cultures -Creole, Garifuna, ex-pat gringo - but has created a well structured novel encompassing universal themes. I loved my sojourn in Belize in that era. I won't go back now, but can visit Mr. Miller's Belize.

As a visitor to Belize, I enjoyed this walk through the (recent) history, as well as the landscape, of the country.

The story covered a lot of ground efficiently - just enough at each setting and then onto the next. I couldn't predict where it would lead next which made it hard to put down. It's told from perspective of people living in Belize.
I go to Belize alot and I really liked this book. It combines historical facts with fun and exciting fiction. I highly recommend it!
