Wandered here after recalling a book with a picture that scared the bejeezus out of me as a child.. After seeing the single, unfair review (apparently by a 15 year old girl?) I thought I'd give my two cents. As a kid, I was a trivia hound with insomnia issues, and this was one of my favorite books. It's not a story; it's not supposed to have a "plot." It's a book of facts, trivia, stories, brain-teasers, and so on.. Really more of a "toilet book" you can open to a random page for a few minutes' entertainment. For a kid (9-12?) with a hunger for weird knowledge, this is an awesome book.

(By the way, the picture I was thinking of was included in one of the book's scary stories.. It was a girl with boar's tusks that, for some reason, disturbed me to the point of flipping quickly past it every time. Although I also had trouble with the freaky illustrations in Alvin Schwartz's "Scary Stories" series :P)

Well, hello from the other side of the freakin' world.I picked this book for my lovely trip to paris and Austria. France is gorgeous and Austria is a winter wonderland, but anyway, I was somewhat dissappointed about what I reacieved. If you are a 15 year old girl or over the age of 9,THIS IS NOT, I REPEAT, IS NOT FOR YOU!!!! Anyway, long story short, refrain from buying this book, if you may, it lacks in good humor what it also does in a plot. Why you say, well, it is not a novel, just a long list of to-do stuff, and it will bore the crap out of you.

I loved this book as a child. Full of interesting facts and ideas for when you are having trouble going to sleep.
