The next year, 1945, Pippi Longstocking won a best children's book competition and Lindgren began writing the perennially child-pleasing stories that make up her enormous body of work, some of which are the series based on "Children of Noisy Village", the fable "The Tomten", the rambunctious ", the irrepressible"Lotta on Troublemaker Street", the controversial "The Brothers Lionheart"

Can't wait to read this with my kindergarten granddaughter .....How I loved reading this to her mom, too. We are collecting "real" and iPad books from our child's days to share with the next generation. This is a loving book about Lotta, who embraces love, curiosity, and age- appropriate trouble, and comes to her own conclusions (with clever and loving family help). Not another trite Barbie/tinkerbell/fairy tale. This is the real stuff good childrens' literature is made of, split infinitive aside.

A childhood favorite now shared with my granddaughter!

I bought this for my 8 year old grandson's reading class. We enjoyed reading it (I read one page and he read the next page). Not only was it cute to me, but it was also interesting. It told a story that all children want to experience at one time or another as they seek their independence. And it was told with love.

Kids love it! We are avid fans of Astrid Lindgren in our house. Highly recommend everything this woman ever wrote, you won't regret it.

My children enjoy reading Astrid Lindgren's books. My 6 year old daughter especially loves the 'Lotta' series (other books- the kids from troublemaker street). It's a pity that there aren't more of her books available in English. We own a lot of other similar good ones in German that you can only find at the library in English.

This is not a complete work., and there was no clear indication of that in its description.

Lotta, the youngest in the family, dreams that her sister and brother are bothering her favorite stuffed animal. She wakes up furious with them, and will not believe that they are innocent. On top of that, her mother tells her to wear a sweater that is itchy and scratchy. She starts to alter the sweater, and after trying unsuccessfully to even up the damage, completely destroys it. Of course her mother is angry. Since no one in the family appreciates her, she runs away to the neighbor's garage loft. The neighbor graciously lets Lotta "move in."
Fans of "Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day" and Beverly Cleary's Ramona series will enjoy Lotta's story. The writing flows well both for read-aloud as well as beginning readers. As an elementary school library media specialist, I have recommended this book to many students and parents.
when lotta gets in trouble she goes on a mission to get away from her mom. She ends up in her neibors attic by when night falls the attic becomes a very spooky place. Finally her dad comes up to rescue her so he does and brings her back into her own room and she falls asleep!!!!!!
