My toddler son is a train fan, and this book is a disappointment even for him. There is no content really, just some random photos of trains (and very few, it's only a few pages but they are so thick you get the idea that there is a lot of content) with a bit of text on each page. Like a short sentence on each, a sentence that doesn't even seem to be well thought, is not interesting and sometimes doesn't even apply to all the photos in each page (4-6 photos per page). Total disappointment, would return it if I were not overseas.
I highly recommend the "Big Book of Trains", that one is great! Well researched and written, lots of interesting info and pictures, great for children and adults.

Must have book for train crazy toddlers! My son is autistic and OBSESSED with trains. He really enjoyed this book for a few days after we got it, but it no longer holds his attention very well. The book itself is big and very high quality which I really appreciated as he tends to destroy books pretty quickly. I would recommend for the younger ones!

This is a very sturdy and colorful book for very young people who are being introduced to reading. There are a lot of pictures of trains, as you might expect, mainly locomotives. There are a few words on every page. It's a great book to sit down with to read with a young person - you can point to the pictures as you read the captions, you can talk about the things in the photos, pointing out details and maybe making up little stories. The pages are what they call a board book - a heavy material you can trust to hold up if your little person wants to look at it on their own. The train pictures come from around the world, so you can add that to the conversation as well. No plot to speak of, no character development - just a a fun book to look at for some quality family time.

This was purchased for my three year old son obsessed with trains. Life would be trains 24/7 in our house if he had his way. Right now the best way to capture his attention is with imagery and talk of trains, and this book definitely hit the mark.
PROS:
- The book is large enough to sit comfortably in his lap.
- The pictures and colors are very vivid, there are TONS of pictures of trains.
- The narrative is very simple and there is a lot of opportunity for kids to learn and repeat new words.
- Each picture is labelled with an associative word.
- Engages the reader by asking questions.
- Sturdily made board book.

CONS:
- The book isn't written as a story which may bore older kids (which isn't really a con depending on what you're looking for.)

This is one of my son's favorite books and he is able to call out different trains while we are out and about which has impressed many adults. A three-year-old who knows the difference between a freight train, a diesel train, and a "high speed commuter train" is pretty cool!

My son is now the envy of his toddler buddies, as this book is full of bright, big pictures of trains (evidently little boy crack). I love it because though we read it frequently, there's not a story that I have to repeat. Heck, I've even learned a bit about trains myself. Wonderful addition to any library.

Oh my gosh, my 3 year old son will not put this book down. He even brings it to bed with him. He likes to shine a tiny flash light on all the trains as he names them all (yes! he memorized all the different train types!) There are no stories about the trains. Just pictures with descriptions. I guess that's all he needs to love this book! The spine is even falling apart because he handles it so much haha!

Cute, interesting and engaging little book that keeps the Grandkids entertained. Nice way to keep them happy and exercise their brains. A good way to encourage Imagination and learn new things in the process...that's is always a good thing!
Purchased this for my 18 month grandson who is really into trains! Great book for little ones. Lots of bright colored trains. Good sturdy pages. Every kind of train you can imagine.
