This colloid was applied to various substrates to yield a very high density of individual spaced diamond nanoparticles. These diamond islands act as nucleation sites for chemical vapour deposition of nanocrystalline diamond. The radiation damage profile exhibited an amorphous phase at the high dose. If the electrical conductivity is assumed to be attributed to the amorphous layer, the resistivity is almost the same as that of a glassy carbon.
