Jeff Parker, Paul Tobin, Harrison Wilcox, Scott Reed. Take "World War Hulks" the follow-up to "Fall of the Hulks. Next up are Harrison Wilcox and Ben Oliver with a story about Glenn Talbot and a surprise superhero, set in the past. If you're thinking, "This must be the next chapter in the storyline," you'll be a little disappointed. It's an odd story, because while it seems like it's supposed to flesh out Talbot and make him more interesting (I think it's safe to say that a lot of current readers of "Hulk" have never encountered him before his recent revival), it actually made me less interested in the character.

Most astute readers already know what they are getting into with books like World War Hulks as these postevent anthologies are usually filled with upsanddowns and rarely ever truly justify the investment. This issue is more of the same with some stories that are simply forgettable, a few that our downright deplorable, and a handful that are actually pretty awesome.

I really enjoyed the expansion of the Hulk universe with Red Hulk, Red She-Hulk, She Hulk, Bruce Banner's children (Lyra and Skaar), Abomb, etc.. This story is well illustrated and an overall good read.

I bought this book has part of my collection of the Red Hulk saga, I won't mention who Red She-Hulk is, or Red Hulk really is. It would spoil it for fans if your new too collecting the books. I will say it was money well spent though. Now I just wish they would make a Red She-hulk movie. It would probly be an R rated movie, since she doesn't wear much clothes. But I wouldn't mind. lol

continuing on where fall of the hulks left off, the writers and artists continue to do what, to the best of my knowledge, has not been successfully done before, and that is to develop a worthy supporting cast to the incredible hulk. peter david did do a fairly good job himself, but a lot of the characters he created fell by the wayside unfortunately.
just as in the previous volume the hulk himself takes a back seat to the the other hulked out characters of his universe. this is not neccessarily a bad thing, as i found it really added to the character himself and what makes him so special. also as is the case more often than not, the characters shine through and develop a life of their own. i would not be surprised if skaar, the red hulk and/or the red she-hulk get their own titles.
the writers did an amazing job of making every character feel significant and making the reader feel like the characters played an important role, such lesser characters as glenn talbot and doc samson, who i never really cared for, were very well utilised and i was genuinely interested to read about them and am actually keen to see more of them in future issues.
the writers are the true star of this story i felt, it is an intricate and interesting story that flowed very smoothly. it does bounce around a bit more this time round from character to character, but that's something i enjoyed. the book itself reads like a collection of mini-series that combine to make up an over-all story. each character plays their own part and has their own adventures and somewhere along the way they meet up for a punch-up with each other.
wriers this time round are jeff parker, harrison wilcox, scott reed, paul tobin, kieron gillen, chris eliopoulis, brian clevinger, greg pak, scott reed and bill mantlo.
the artwork is where most people will decide whether they like this volume or not as there were a fair number of different artists involved with varying styles. for the most part it didn't bother me much but there were a couple of artists whose work i did not care for. i will say that paul pelletier is probably the most improved penciller i have seen over the last 5 years. his hulk stands alongside the likes of ed mcguinness, dale keown and gary frank whose renditions i liked the most. ariel olivetti does an excellent hulk too which is very much just an oversized conan.
artists are mike mignola, miguel munera, paul pelletier, guruhiru, jacopo camagni, patrick sherberger, jorge molina, humberto ramos, salva espin, zach howard, ben oliver, terry austin and ryan stegman. cover art contributors are john romita jr, j. scott campbell, barry kitson, david finch, dale keown, adam kubert and jelena kevic djurdjevic
