The novel is very good, and hard to put down.

Jonathan Steel now has a new charge, Josh Knight, a young Christian whom he has promised to take care of after they had killed the 13th Demon, and his mother lost her life. As they are having a meeting with the attorney who is representing Josh, someone attempts an assassination. This someone is none other but a woman named, Raven, who was sent by the 13th Demon's wife, Vivian. This woman, if I may call her that, is trying to take over her husband's company and of course his demonic status. Right in the middle of this the 12th Demon,Rudolph Wulf comes into the picture. As one would expect he is a cruel being set on destruction and control of mankind. Now we are placed in the midst of darkness versus light, humans and demons clashing and plotting to win the ultimate prize, mankind. Add to that mix Vampires, and would be Vampires, and detectives that only want to solve their case without believing they are dealing with the supernatural, and Christians who are well aware of the evil powers, and you will see you are in for quite a ride in this read. This novel keeps moving like a freight train. It's fast paced and mind challenging, as you become one with the battle set before you..The characters are extremely well-defined, realistic, with just the right amount of good and evil to bring forth the nectar of the story. It's a thriller and a Christian read all wrapped up on one. I liked that. I recommend this read if you want a real page-turner thriller where you will definitely be rooting for one side or the other before the book is done. Great job, Mr. Hennigan, we need more books such as yours.

I wasn't quite sure what to think when I encountered this genre. Most Christians tend to eschew vampire fiction, but Dr. Bruce Hennigan's writing about both vampires and demons?

Our hero is Jonathan Steel, a Dallas based demon fighter who has already dispatched the 13th Demon. In Steel's theology, Satan unleashed a baker's dozen of demons to counteract Christ's disciples.

Steel's now got a sidekick, teenaged Josh Knight, who lost his Mom in the previous book. We cut right into the action when an assassin goes after them. If that wasn't enough, Rudolph Wulf, the 12th Demon is on the loose and set to unleash a vampyre army on the world.

"The Twelfth Demon" was an interesting and mostly stand-alone read. Dr. Hannigan (a radiologist by trade) writes very well and does a decent job of integrating demons and vampyres into his fantasy landscape.

The author of The Twelfth Demon has penned quite the multi-part series. I found his subject matter both horrifying and fascinating. Vampires and vampire cults, angels and demons, the battle of good versus evil. I found myself sucked in most of the time. This isn't literary writing or deep character studies, it's all about the plot in this involved read. Though I did not read his first, The Thirteenth Demon, I wasn't lost in the second book and picked up what I needed to follow the story without drowning to too many details. Big fans of supernatural thrillers might want to check into the ultimate good vs. evil story.

The 12th Demon was a heart-stopping thrill ride from beginning to end. I couldn't finish it fast enough. Even though this was the second volume in the series, there was enough background information that you didn't feel lost. The dialogue and characters were well developed. I particularly enjoyed "Theo Nosmo King" who was a six-foot seven homeless man that Steel helped "save." He said that his mother named him for the first thing she saw when he was born which was the "No Smoking" sign. Also, the history of vampirism was well researched and interesting. Anyone who enjoys the Laurell Hamilton, Anita Blake series needs to jump onto the Jonathan Steel bandwagon. Who knew you could be a Christian and still fight demons and vampires?
