Jeremy Ignacio had met Noel and Ling at Vega’s house to disable the alarm system, which had been the primary reason Noel had had to wait until after four that morning to break into the traitor’s house. Fortunately, the Vegas had been sound asleep in bed, the wife easy to grab with her large belly sticking u. rs. Vega was tied to a chair where Greg Vega could see her. Ling stood behind her, a gun at her head. Vega was hard to shake.

The Just William series is a sequence of thirty-nine books written by English author Richmal Crompton. The books chronicle the adventures of the unruly schoolboy William Brown. Published over a period of almost fifty years, between 1921 and 1970, the series is notable for the fact that the protagonist remains at the same eleven years of age, despite each book being set in the era in which it was written. The first book was Just William, and often the entire series is named after this book.

Reviel Netz and William Noel have given us a well written, immensely informative and hugely entertaining glimpse into the world of Archimedes, mathematical thinking, antiquarian book collecting, manuscript conservation and, above all, puzzle solving. Puzzle solving that is dependent on the mind-boggling expertise of linguists, classicists, mathematicians, chemists, computer scientists and imaging experts.

Noel motioned for Mr. Ling to join him by the balcony window. Ling was Chinese, bald, and in his early forties. Noel’s fists clenched, the only outward sign of his anger. His brother was yet another liability. Had he been able to leave him behind in Mexico, he would have. He could kill a man with little effort, and had a sharp intellect. He’d been with Noel for more than a decade. But the last time he left Tobias for more than a day, his brother had disappeared for three weeks and left behind too many dead bodies for Noel to cover up. Noel resented having to care for the twisted, weak retard. Before their father had died, Noel didn’t have to see or talk to Tobias.

Mom knows things she shouldn't know. Dad's been telling her secrets. But he's dead. Award-winning TV journalist Hope Lancaster's career is soaring. The network execs love her. To celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary, her husband, Mark, and daughter, Jennifer, have joined her in New York-where her cousin, Lisa, died in the World Trade Center attack. But now it's the Lancasters who are about to become ground zero-in both the physical and spiritual realms. When Mark and his team of software developers board a flight to Los Angeles, their plane is targeted by terrorists. But how did Hope's mom know-even before the missiles hit? One of the victims, an elder in Hope's church, was a business mogul under investigation for accounting fraud. As she uncovers his dark secrets, Hope wonders, Where is he now? In heaven? Or hell? At the same time, strange new sensations are raising hairs on the back of Hope's neck-and questions in her mind about the fate of the dead. In this sequel to Broken River, Shattered Sky, author William Noel weaves a tangled tale into a riveting spiritual thriller that reveals something about the darkness on the other side and the liberating power of the light.

I honestly don't know how to rate this book. I read the first book and enjoyed it then picked up this book to read. The author's writing is kind of jumpy. The transitions from person to person and scene to scene are not in the least bit smooth. As in the first book, the story seems to go from one crisis to another. The author has difficulty bringing all of the different threads to closure. The theology presented is sound but the story gets left in the dust. Hope the heroine, develops a friendship with the wife of one of the people killed in the plane crash her husband was in but it just gets dropped. For a while it seemed to be a prime thread but all of a sudden it disappears. The end of the book is totally disconnected from anything else that was happening in the book. All of the previous threads are left hanging and all of a sudden there is this sudden stop. I for one would like to have known what happened to the rest of the plots that were developing. I was going to mark this a 3 star but as I wrote it and reminded myself that I have no idea what happened to most of the book I put it down to 1.
