The word gospel is on the lips of many these days, but few truly understand its essential content, depth and nature. In this outstanding volume Paul Washer masterfully opens up from the Bible the heart of the gospel, giving us an invaluable resource for our lives.

The word gospel is on the lips of many these days, but few truly understand its essential content, depth and nature. This book is a wonderful gift to the church and like no other that I have seen on this subject. It should be read by every Christian but especially those who labor in the ministry, for it will greatly assist them in being faithful proclaimers of God's good news message to a lost and fallen world.

Although the Recovering the Gospel Series does not represent an entirely systematic presentation of the gospel, it does . I am profoundly thankful for the courageous clarity of The Gospel’s Power and Message by Paul Washer.

Although the Recovering the Gospel Series does not represent an entirely systematic presentation of the gospel, it does address most of the essential elements, especially those that are most neglected in contemporary Christianity. It is the hope of the author that these words might be a guide to help you rediscover the gospel in all its beauty, scandal, and saving power.

Paul Washer's book, The Gospel's Power and Message reads like a collection of sermons and a book on doctrine. His footnotes and references are thorough. I was challenged by his straightforward rebuke to the church for not understanding and preaching the Gospel to the lost that need it. We fail to do God's bidding and fail the generation around us when we don't understand and preach the Gospel clearly.

Recovering the Gospel, 3 Volumes by Paul Washer. Examining the real meaning of faith, repentance, and receiving Christ, Washer defines the true gospel, and provides a guide to help us rediscover its beauty, scandal, and saving power. A challenge to "easy believism" and a warning for new converts to establish a sound assurance of salvation. Three softcovers, from Reformation Heritage.

Recovering the Gospel Series. One of the greatest crimes of this generation of Christians is its neglect of the gospel, and it is from this neglect that all our other maladies spring forth. Absent from too many pulpits are the essential themes which make up the very core of the gospel the justice of God, the radical depravity of man, the blood atonement. In The Gospel's Power and Message, Paul Washer addresses these essential elements of Christ s good news and provides a guide to help us rediscover the gospel in all its beauty, scandal, and saving power.

Churches reduce the gospel message to a few creedal statements, teach that conversion is a mere human decision . In a book that is deep, methodical, and powerful, Washer calls every Christian to make the gospel his lifelong obsession

Churches reduce the gospel message to a few creedal statements, teach that conversion is a mere human decision, and pronounce assurance of salvation over anyone who prays the sinner’s prayer. Against this radical neglect he says, It does not become us as ministers or laymen to stand so near and do nothing when we see ‘the glorious gospel of our blessed God’ replaced by a gospel of lesser glory. In a book that is deep, methodical, and powerful, Washer calls every Christian to make the gospel his lifelong obsession. Remember this: you must always be growing in the gospel and your knowledge of it.

The Gospel's Power and Message is a clear and comprehensive Bible commentary on the Gospel. Every point is referenced and supported by Scripture. It made me sad and angry over the watered-down compromise of the Gospel in most churches today. Even more, it convicted me of my own efforts to make the foolish yet powerful message of the Gospel more palatable to sinful men. I highly recommend this book for every believer especially pastors, elders and those gifted as evangelist. I finished the book thanking God for working through Paul Washer to faithfully and boldly exhort His church to turn from "another gospel" and stand on Truth. Reading this book re-stirred in me a passion for the Biblical Gospel, a deeper desire to know and worship Jesus Christ and a yearning to go into the world and boldly proclaim the sinfulness of men and the only hope of salvation through faith in Him, crucified and risen!

Personally couldn’t recommend anyone more dedicated to the truth of the Gospel. Would recommend the entire series. These books aren’t fancy and don’t cut any corners. They are simply full of drawing the entire bibles message of the Gospel and it’s doctrinal truths. He doesn’t spend a whole lot of time with practical application like he would in his vocal teaching but he directly approaches everything the church has believed historically and lays out cinder blocks for us as a church to build the correct foundation that the scriptures provide concerning the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thankful that I was able to learn it right the first time.

His passion for the Word of God is so evident from the very first sentence and is so inspiring. He preaches the truth of God' Word with diligence and care and obviously a lot of prayer is involved before hand. God is using this man to warn and attend to the things that most provoke His wrath in His children who have gone astray or have been mislead. I will not call him a prophet, or an apostle because there are no modern day prophets or apostles, accept those who are self appointed and are "puffed up", who magnify themselves as something they are not. But God is definitely using Mr. Washer to get His message out, without error! God bless you Paul and thank you! Peace be to all who love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

This book has become one of my all time favorites. While it is exceptionally clear and readable (avoiding much technical theological language) it is not at all a lightweight presentation and explanation of the gospel. Paul Washer has done a superb job at looking at the intricate details of the gospel and its subsequent implications. It is very well footnoted with scriptural references. I am quite convinced that the readability of this book could easily engage the high school student, and yet, I am equally convinced that seminary students would devour its deep and profound penetration into the gospel's theological seas. I can assure you, reading this book is not skiing on the sea of scripture, it is deep diving for sure! Nevertheless, Paul has achieved this deep dive with the utmost clarity. I wholeheartedly endorse this book as a must read for the layman and for the professional theologian.

Brother Paul as he likes to refers to himself truly puts together something scandously true. Is understanding of the drepravity of man and the glorious gospel of our Jesus Christ is fantastic. Every page is packed with hardcore truth, and honestly is not for the faint of heart. Thinking about how Jesus was straight and to the point in his ministry (ex calling the Pharisees that their father was not Yahweh but the devil John 8) he sticks true to that style and puts together one of the best books I've read. The Lord has worked through me tremendously from the teaching of this book and I thank Him for raising up people like brother Paul who are so devoted to truth. This book is defiantly a must read for all professing believers.

I've never had the pure truth of the Gospel hit me so hard. I'm thankful for Paul Washer and this book to teach the Gospel so clearly.

As a pastor I found that this book does a great job of going in depth while yet being very readable. The material is trustworthy, rooted in a lot of Scripture, and I bought 10 copies to share with others after only getting a few chapters in. I find this the most often used source that I come back to apart from systematic theology books I own. You will not be dissatisfied with this and will be greatly enriched. My favorite book that has been written on the gospel yet.
A wonderful book that has opened my eyes to the glorious and most important message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I highly recommend it to any pastor, evangelist, and teacher. We are facing dark and violent days, and today more than ever, we need to hear and preach the pure Gospel. May God continue to strengthen Pastor Washer and family.
