It is a great translation that stays true to the original King James Version but is easier to read and understand with the use of modern English wording. The study notes at the bottom of each page are invaluable in helping me to understand the deeper meaning of what I am reading. My Thomas Nelson NKJV Study Bible has bounced around my squad car for at least a dozen years, at least ten of those years without being in a bible cover.

Beautiful cover, reference and a wonderful overall version of the classic King James. This is now my 3rd NKJV bible I have purchased and it was so worth the price. I love the New King James Version because it captures what we all loved of the Old King Jimmy without losing the beauty and majesty of the classic. The words and phrases of our beautiful holy scriptures have been watered down over the years with all these new versions coming out, most especially this New International Version which to me just seems to lessen the value of the Word of God. I love this NKJV because it is easy to read and too understand. The commentaries and history that shows up all through the NKJV only help you truly appreciate this work of art.
This NKJV is an absolute for anyone who has ever loved the beauty and richness of the Old King James and makes this NKJV hard to put down.

This is a great bible to use for studying the word, praying the word of God and for teaching the word of God with revelation & clarity. It has some of everything like a concordance, teachings & illustrations of Christ, prophecies of the Messiah Fulfilled in Jesus Christ, The Parables of Jesus Christ, The Miracles of Jesus Christ, Prayers of the Bible, Subject Index to Annotations and Features, Charts, In-text Maps and Word studies. It's also leather bond, very easy to travel with and you can use it along with your bible app, cell phone, tablet and laptop etc. Enjoy! :)

Wow! I have four bibles. I bought this bible because I wanted to have my bible "studies" supported deeper by notes and additional information without having to sit in a bible study group. I wanted the freedom of studying with more indepth information at any time and any place. This study bible is PERFECT for my needs! Additionally, it is beautifully printed. I also bought the "Names of Jesus Burgundy Bible / Book Cover (Large)" and it fits my new bible perfectly! This bible cover is also very beautifully made (I've purchased about seven different covers in the past, most are also very beautifully made.) I would recommend this duo to anyone wanting what I've described above. :)

I bought this Bible in hopes of finally settling on a NKJV study Bible I actually liked. I was thrilled when it arrived, as the introductions to the chapters, the timelines, and the maps/illustrations were simple and well done. I also appreciated all the notes within the readings and the connection certain stories have to other places in the Bible. I was disappointed as I continued to read (I've had it for a couple months now) and noticed some important verses did not have fulfilling explanations, but rather rewordings of what it already said. My husband has an ESV version and I'm thankful we are studying together because often times he fills in the blanks. I was also disappointed there was no red letter for Jesus' words and teachings.

Pros:
Beautiful cover
Simple/clean illustrations
Informative intros
Interesting historical facts

Cons:
No red lettering for Jesus' words
Skips some verses that need explanation
Some explanations are unhelpful/common sense

Overall, it's a great Bible. I personally like NKJV translation. The price made this buy a good one, no matter the cons.

I bought this bible as a gift. I have owned and enjoyed this edition myself for approximately three years. It is a great translation that stays true to the original King James Version but is easier to read and understand with the use of modern English wording. The study notes at the bottom of each page are invaluable in helping me to understand the deeper meaning of what I am reading. The references to Strong's Concordance throughout this Bible also help in clarification. I have read four other Biblical translations and this is definitely my favorite! The pages are thin, which do make highlighting a little messy, but that is a small issue.

I have read multiple reviews on the Thomas Nelson NKJV Study Bible and I am amazed at some of the comments. Some say that it is too heavy to carry around as your sole bible, are you kidding me? The leather or bonded leather bible weigh no more than a church hymnal. I have carried this bible around for more years than I can remember without any personal harm to myself. Someone said that this Bible doesn't take sides on the issues of doctrinal differences. They said that it presents all the different sides rather than just take one. Again, are you kidding me? I would rather have all sides to weigh out and consider rather than one opinion. Someone said that the corners of the book dig into their leg while they take notes. Okay, do not buy the hard cover Bible if you want to take notes on your lap. All silly complaints if you ask me.

My Thomas Nelson NKJV Study Bible has bounced around my squad car for at least a dozen years, at least ten of those years without being in a bible cover. I purchased the bonded leather version and it has finally begun to come apart after flying around inside my squad car during high speed cornering and being thrown out of the way so I can quickly respond to an emergency call. So as far as durability I would give it a 10.

I love that each chapter starts off by explaining what one is about to read, as well as author information and cultural and date information. I also love the fact that the Lord's words are in highlighted red, which is not the case with the second edition. I found the commentary to be as good as possible considering the small amount of space allotted for it at the bottom of each page, as is with all study Bibles. It has a nice concordance which is both topical and by individual words in the back. There are dozens of word studies throughout. It also has maps and all kinds of other helpful sections.

I love this Bible so much that I am purchasing another new one rather than buying the second edition. I have used this Bible to develop many sermons and study many topics. For the price it is the best study bible on the market. I also utilize a Mac Arthur commentary and a Believer Bible Commentary to assist me in my studies and sermon preparation. I have found that the study notes in the Thomas Nelson Study Bible often times has information and explanations similar to the aforementioned commentaries, albeit to a lesser degree due to space restrictions with the study Bible.

Finally, I give this Bible my highest recommendation. In my opinion, as one who has owned and used this Bible for years, you will love the Thomas Nelson NKJV Study Bible.
