Prosper Keating is with Sandro Miller. Vanity Fair US's loss, 7POST's gain. 10 October 2016 ·. 7POST The Marilyn cover. I'd known Sandro since 1997 when I contributed the preface to his American Bikers book but it was brave of him to take a chance on us. Hats off to Malkovich too for giving us an interview despite the recent loss of someone very close to him. Good people.

First coming into contact with biker culture in 1990 at a bike rally raising funds for handicapped children, Miller spent five years photographing bikers at rallies across the United States.

Publisher's Description. Bikers-especially the Harley riding, leather wearing variety-are among the most misunderstood, misrepresented segments of contemporary American culture. Although their style of life conjures up images of ancient nomadic warriors, there is a compassionate side that Sandro Miller's portraits reveal. The photographer discovered this intimacy at a fundraiser for handicapped children-one sponsored by an Illinois biker club.

Sandro Miller (born 1958) is an American photographer (working professionally as "Sandro") known for his expressive images, and his close work with actor John Malkovich and the other ensemble members of Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company. American Bikers by Sandro Miller. John Malkovich by Sandro Miller. Great American photographer Sandro Miller has teamed up with John Malkovich to give us the perfect walk through art history. How is it possible he still looks ominous in green satin floral? Emanuel Ungaro, whom I was the bras droit for years told me "a woman is not a couch, you don't sit on her, that's why I don't use wallpaper or repetitive prints for couture" but what about men! Mr John Malkovich (by Sandro Miller). Being Marilyn Monroe: See John Malkovich transformed in these stunning re-creations of classic portraits.

Astonishing portraits from an amazingly talented photographer. If you are looking for a great study in lighting and film portraiture with some fascinating subjects, this book is for you.

Fantastic photos of this often-misunderstood culture.

In this book, Sandro Miller reminds us of the power of black and white photography. His subjects are at once frightening and vulnerable. His ability to look through these bikers' eyes into their souls is astonishing. Lovers of the photographic art will find themselves enthralled by the skin textures, tatoos, and depth found in these photographs. Beyond a sort of tribal celebration, this work truly conveys the interpretative, emotive capabilities of an outstanding artist. Sandro Miller has joined the elite of America's finest photographers. Bravo!
