Avoid this book at all cost.

Each Cambridge Film Handbook focuses on a single film from a variety of theoretical, critical and contextual perspectives. This "prism" approach is designed to give students and general readers valuable background and insight into the cinematic, artistic, cultural, and socio-political importance of individual films by including essays by leading film scholars and critics. Filmographies and selected bibliographies are included.

Buster Keaton's "Sherlock Jr." focuses on a classic by one of America's greatest silent film geniuses, whose films still delight and amaze audiences worldwide. The essays included in this volume, written specially for this edition, examine this film within the context of Keaton's career, and also offer new perspectives on its unusual production history, Keaton's vaudeville background, and the differing views of "masculinity" that both celebrate and poke fun at cinema itself, among other topics.

Avoid this book at all cost. Many, many other, better books analyze Keaton, his films, and his career better than this one, which fails miserably.
