Eta Cohen (1916 - 20 November 2012) was a professional English author, teacher and violinist. Cohen was born in Sunderland, to Jewish immigrants from Lithuania. She left school at age 16 and began to teach music in local private schools in Sunderland and Newcastle. At the age of 17 she was asked to teach for the local education authority, leading her to look for a published violin method on which to base her teaching

I've looked through many of the beginning violin duet books. For ease of playing, this book is the best. The songs start from the easiest to more complex. The downside is since it's British, it uses the British note names (quaver, etc.) rather than the American names (eighth note, etc.) in the comments.

I am a professional musician and long time teacher of both violin and viola. This book is excellent. I purchased it to expand my student violin duet repertoire, and was so impressed that I ended up buying books 2 and 3, too. I am using works out of each of them on my upcoming student recital. I especially appreciate that the pieces are written in logical key signatures. For instance, Book 1 is written entirely in G, D, and A major, so that beginning students are playing entirely on their tapes.
